Hi to all Granny's good apples, friends, members, supporters and future companions
Thankyou for taking the time to visit our donation page.
Granny Smyth here, I founded GGAT LGBTQ+ Dementia Support CIC a non-profit community led company as a tribute to my mum who lived with Vascular Dementia who I cared for, and because I saw a real need for a safe, welcoming and understanding community for LGBTQ+ people affected by dementia plus those living with HIV and Dementia.
The connection being I am now a senior member of the LGBTQ+ community and mum had dementia and I put the two things together and formed GGAT, (Gays Get Alzheimer’s Too)
Many people in our community have faced discrimination, isolation or fear during their lives. No one should have to experience those feelings again when living with dementia or caring for someone they love.
At GGAT, we believe everyone deserves compassion, dignity, respect and the opportunity to remain true to who they are.
Our mission is simple: to provide information, friendship, support, education and hope for LGBTQ+ people living with dementia, their partners, carers, families and friends. We also work to promote greater understanding within health and social care so that future generations receive the inclusive care they deserve.
Although we have achieved a great deal through the dedication of volunteers and supporters, there is still much more to do.
Every donation, no matter how large or small matters, help us expand our reach, develop new resources, support more people, recruit volunteers and continue campaigning for equality in dementia care.
By supporting GGAT, you are not simply making a donation—you are helping to build a future where no LGBTQ+ person has to face dementia alone.
It would be silly of me to think I can do all the work myself so if you would like to talk to us about volunteering as well as donating, Granny and the current admin team would really appreciate you getting on board or simply in touch.
From the bottom of my heart,
( I nearly put from the heart of my bottom but I was told to behave myself ) so quickly moving on Thank you for believing in our vision and for helping us continue to build hope together.
With sincere thanks,
Granny Smyth ????
